- Using your mouse
- Holding the mouse, place the cursor immediately to the left of the first character of the text you wish to copy.
- 'Left click' the mouse (i.e. press down on the left-hand button of the mouse).
- Still keeping your finger pressed down on the left mouse button, drag the cursor across and down until all the text you wish to copy is highlighted.
- Release the left mouse button.
- With the text still highlighted, click Edit and then click Copy.
- The selected text has now been placed in the 'clipboard' and is available to any application that allows pasting.
- Open the file into which you wish to paste the text you have copied.
- Place the cursor immediately to the left of where you wish to paste the text you have copied into the clipboard.
- Click Edit and then click Paste.
- The copied text has now been pasted into your file.
- Using the keyboard
- Using the cursor arrow keys, place the cursor immediately to the left of the first character of the text you wish to copy.
- Holding down the shift key (and keeping it held down) highlight the text you wish to copy by continuously pressing on the cursor arrow key(s).
- Release both the shift key and the cursor arrow key.
- Press both the CTRL and C keys simultaneously.
- The selected text has now been placed in the 'clipboard' and is available to any application that allows pasting.
- Open the file into which you wish to paste the text you have copied.
- Place the cursor immediately to the left of where you wish to paste the text you have copied into the clipboard.
- Press both the CTRL and V keys simultaneously.
- The copied text has now been pasted into your file.
